Candle Haul | Bath & Body Works

Ok. So my love of candles isn’t a secret…at all! I constantly stop and smell candles every single time I come across them. It doesn’t matter if I’m in Target or walking through the mall and come across a Yankee Candle or Bath and Body Works. I always, I mean always, stop and see what’s new.

Bath and Body Works candles are my favorite of all time. They are constantly having sales or sending coupons via email which is amazing for candle addicts like myself. A few weeks back, I purchased a few…okay 6…candles during a sale plus I had a coupon. Basically, I got six candles for the price of 2.5!

In honor of these new candles, I wanted to show you what scents I’m obsessed with right now. My favorite scents change based on the season and right now, I’m really loving the fruity, summery scents.

Tiki Mango Mai Tai is a tropical blend of mango nectar, jasmine flower and sun kissed grapefruit.
Georgia Peach is described as a blend of Georgia peaches, dewy petals and a hint of creamy vanilla.
Sundrenched Mango is fresh pineapple and salted citrus in an intoxicating island fragrance.

Bow Ties & Bourbon is a blend of dark oak, fresh bergamot and a hint of bourbon.
Mango Dragon Fruit is a blend of juicy golden mangos and lush pink dragon fruit.
Sundress is described as a blend of bright day lilies, Tonka beans and bergamot.

I’m sure I’ll be adding more to my collection before I even finished burning all of these. Burning candles help me relax after a crazy day of work or a busy weekend shopping and hanging out with my family. Trust me! If you need to relax, grab your favorite candle, your favorite book or movie and just chill!

I love smelling new candles so leave me some suggestions of your favorite candles below in the comments section. Enjoy the weekend!

Summer Essentials

Today is the first day of summer! I don’t know why but even though I work the same hours during the summer, there’s something peaceful and relaxing about knowing that’s its summertime. Maybe because the days are longer or the weather is nicer or maybe it’s just some kind of magic in the air but we all know life is better in flip flops. Here are some of my summer must haves this year.

Summer EssentialsSummer Essentials bag

  • Aviators: I am addicted to sunglasses; I never go anywhere without them. There’s nothing cute about squinting in the bright sun while your lounging on the beach or window shopping. I get mine at Target; cute and affordable.
  • Sunscreen: Being a redhead, I don’t tan; I crisp. I absolutely hate the smell of sunscreen and the idea of putting it on my face is not appealing at all. This Neutrogena sunscreen is my favorite even though it does have a smell; it doesn’t linger. The dry-touch formula is means I’m not a greasy mess when I put makeup over the top.
  • Setting Spray: Melting makeup isn’t cute on anyone but especially me. I use Urban Decay All-Nighter setting spray daily in the summer. It locks my makeup in place for most of the day. It doesn’t last all day but most of the day which is good enough for me.
  • Sandals: I live in sandals all summer long. By adding these cute sandals, it take an outfit from casual to summer casual.
  • Sea Salt Spray: This is a new product that I’m learning to really love. I have naturally wavy hair and this Tony & Guy Sea Salt spray is fantastic for beachy waves.
  • Colorful Bag: I love color so a bright bag or a cute print is my go to look for summer. I especially love this bag because it’s big enough to hold everything I need but it’s not heavy and difficult to get into.

DIY Computer Decal

I love color and change. It drives my sisters crazy but I just love bright colors and mixing patterns together to redecorate everything. Seriously, everything! In college, I had the coolest decal cover on my laptop. It was bright and colorful and everyone always asked me where I got it.  I’ve since had to retire my trusty college computer and I found a few months back that I really missed my colorful laptop. I didn’t want to spend the money for one to put on my new laptop (they run about $30 a piece). The problem with the decal, aside from the price, is I love change and they aren’t able to be removed and reused later. As I said before I love color and change so the solution is simple and inexpensive. Washi tape!

Compter Washi Tape old 2The photo is kind of dark but this was the end result. Obviously, this is just washi tape so it won’t last forever. After about 6 months, it had started to come off and tear in a few places. But considering how often I throw my computer into my bag for work, 6 months is a pretty long time. Since I wanted to change the colors anyway, I decided to share this fun DIY with you.

What you’ll need:

  • Laptop
  • Washi tape of your choice
  • Scissors

Supplies2

The process is actually really easy. After you’ve chosen your washi tape, decide how you’d like to arrange them. There are no rules so make it look however you want. I decided to go with three different colors/designs again. Target and Hobby Lobby both sell washi tape in sets with colors and patterns already matched so if mixing designs it’s your forte, that may be the way for you to go. I chose these three tapes that I picked up at Office Depot for $2.99 each.

The beauty of washi tape is the easy removal. If you get part way through and decide that you want to change the tape your using, or you want to start over completely, washi tape is easily removed. After you’ve picked your tapes, it’s time to start taping.

This is where you get to be really creative! Make any pattern you want or just do straight lines like I did. The sides can be tricky. You’ll want to either cut the tape so you have room to wrap the extra tape around the edge or cut it so it doesn’t show when the laptop is open.

This is my finished design. I ended up not liking the floral washi tape so I changed that. I love the bright colors; very summery. I’d love to see your decorated laptops, iPads, etc. Be sure to post them and tag me on Instagram or Twitter.

Simple Weekend Summer Makeup

This weekend, my sister and I spent some time shopping and checking out some yard sales around town. The last thing anyone wants to do in the summer is spend hours on makeup that’s going to melt off after an hour in the sun. I work in an office so and wear makeup everyday but on the weekends, I don’t always want to spend a ton of time on it. I want to look put together without caking on the makeup. I use 7 products to create a simple put together look.

Sunscreen is a must for me year round but especially in the summer. The CC Cream I use has SPF in it but I like the idea of extra protection so I use this Neutrogena one as a primer as well. It has a sunscreen smell, you know the one I mean, but it doesn’t linger. This sunscreen is available in SPF up to 100 which is crazy!

I actually use two different shades of CC Cream to get my correct shade. I mix Very Light and Light/Medium together. By the end of summer, I’ll be using mostly Light/Medium because I tan very slightly, seriously most people can hardly tell.

The Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is perfect for a little extra coverage where I need it (usually my dark circles from lack of sleep). A little under my eyes and around my nose to cover some redness and I’m good to go.

Makeup foundation

I don’t really like to use a lot of eyeshadow because it defeats the purpose of a quick easy summer look. However, I do like using this Naked Basic 2 just to even out the color on my eyelids. Sometimes I’ll add a little definition to my crease but usually not.

Next come the eyebrows. Being a redhead, it’s actually very difficult to find an eyebrow pencil or shadow that matches. I’ve fallen in love with the NYX eyebrow pencil in Taupe. Not only is it an almost perfect match for my brows, but it’s waxy so it stays all day!

I finish my look with some Benefit Roller Lash mascara which I am obsessed with! This mascara stays when I want it too but isn’t really difficult to take off at the end of the day.

Some days, when I want a little something extra, I like to add some Revlon lipstick in Julieanne’s Nude which the perfect shade for us gingers. Otherwise, it’s whatever lip balm I have lying around the bottom of my purse.
